Anonymous use
Without an account, MapSwitch stores nothing about you. Share links carry the place in the URL itself — there is no database of where you've been. Your preferred app is saved only in this browser (localStorage), with no tracking cookies. When a shortened link (like maps.app.goo.gl) needs expanding, it's resolved on the server against a strict allow-list of map domains, and the coordinates are never logged or reported anywhere.
With an account
If you sign in, we store your email, a hashed password and/or your OAuth and passkey identifiers, your saved short links (with their coordinates and label), and your app preference — in a self-hosted SQLite database with encrypted off-site backups. Deleting your account removes all of it. Session cookies are httpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax. We still never log coordinates and use no third-party trackers.
